This bugle is definitely not a high quality product, but it is a very cheap bugle, so that is to be expected. The mouthpiece that comes with it gives a very air-filled sound. The rim is not rounded properly, the cup is too shallow for a good sound and the backbore is nonexistent. You will also notice that the cup is narrower than you are used to, so if you have a different mouthpiece I would recommend you use it. The bugle itself is nickel plated, but the plating job is pretty poor, and you can tell where they didn't buff properly, or apply enough nickel. From a distance, though, it looks okay. As far as the sound quality, it is very bright and also a little bent. I am not sure if it is just me, but I find it very hard to center the pitch, probably because the quality of the metal is not very high. Another very important thing to note is that it does not play in a recognizable key. It sounds like it is between a G and a Gb bugle above the first three or so partials, but below the third partial, I have no idea what is going on. All in all, I would say that this is only good if you want to have fun and play on your own. The sound quality and intonation that this bugle provides are no good for any kind of ensemble playing, or any kind of performance.
